Scott Brown announced as Celtic captain

Postby craig » Fri Feb 05, 2010 5:28 pm

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that midfielder Scott Brown will captain the side when fit to play.
Brown has just returned to fitness and took the skipper's armband from Glenn Loovens when he came on as a substitute against Kilmarnock on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old takes over from Stephen McManus, who has joined Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.
"At this stage in his career, the responsibility will be good for him," said Mowbray.
"He won't change his personality, there will always be the potential for flare ups."

WeKnowSFA's take on Brown being give the captain's armband.

Me personally wouldn't have him back in the team and would have gladly have sold him if we could get our money back.

Have to disagree Dub, I think Scott is the correct choice, he is the most passionate, aggressive and worst loser in the club qualities we are sadly lacking since wee Lenny went. And in the last 48 hours Lenny has been singing Skoosh's praises and he KNOWS what it is to be a successful Celtic captain.

brown is one of the players who you would think can handle being captain. but i think it takes alot more than being an aggressive player to be made captain, you need composure, especially against rangers. only time will tell but it could be good for brown and help him reach his full potential. he may also now get rid of his suspected tattoo of king billy on his ankle and replace it with something else that aiden mcgeady might approve of!!

who really cares about ankle tatoos....it's his heart that counts and Brown wears his on his sleeve, so while he plays for celtic he will give 100% (like he did at hibs) and here's hoping he can drag the rest of them to a decent level of performance.
Faithful through and through

I think he is too volatile to be a captain - IMO

Like one of Brittany piers no doubt, I never knew Scotty had booted Oor Aid in the head lately.
Or how else would he view it then.

But the armband has found a new arm to be on for the Tim being & Scots definetly that, Mr 110% fit or not & who cares about his inky anyway.

Kick out now ask the cvnt later.

The story I heard was that there was a debate and mcgeady said to brown, what to f**k would you know about Celtic ya prick you there with your tattoo of king billy on your ankle!
I don't doubt browns attitude, my only gripe is that me being from the occupied 6 counties I can't understand having a player with a king billy tattoo playing for my team! It's just hard to realise that I must trust a person who glorifies the man that f**cked my country up hundreds of years ago!

Humphy old Queen willimena has fuc& all to do with the Lloyds team as they flatly refuse all Queen williminas Anti Tim policys don`t they, 23.000 of his men V`s 850 or so farmers with a few blunderbusses & pitch forks, as history proves he preferred his young cavalry men to their or his own wife`s. So if Scotty fancies Aiden then that`s your answer.

But I much doubt it, but then " If you know your history " Ehh, but the Rankers board had never promoted the truth & it`s only a dabbity now on his ankle, not plastered all over his chest nor back.

Story`s did the rounds about many a Celtic player & manager who rose Celtic to super greatness &knew a fair few loyalist sea shantys but never sung them.

But both the board & all the fans embraced him as the legend that John Stein became.

Scott plays for Celtic now not Lloyds, so please take your head out the sand & King Kenny (no not Kenny Swiller) Loved rangers his room was plastered with rangers team photos & press clippings, when he was visited by John Stein & Sean Fallon to be signed to play for Celtic, his mum asked him to remove all his wallpaper coverings but refused, but still came not because rangers never bothered to call but because Celtic where a bigger draw.
