I really find it hard to credit him at all when cheating is the fundamental aspect of his game. He NEVER gets carded for it and the Higdon incident highlights his immunity in the SPL, he should have been red carded!

I remember a couple of season's back when Noel Hunt was brought down blatantly by Weir when he was clean through in the box at Ibrox. Not only did Weir not get a card, we didn't even get the penalty! It was the same game that Levein went tits about the ref after the game. Classic bit of TV broadcasting!

I'm not saying Weir is a cheat, maybe just really lucky - or clever? It's part of the game for defenders these days, so I don't have a problem with it. It's up to the ref to call the shots.

Anyway, here's that brilliant footage! I love how Wilkie is holding himself back so much, you can just tell he wants to knock Cousin out!

I cannot disagree with any of those points. It was a penalty and a sending off for Weir. Cousin should also have been sent off. They are refereeing mistakes without a doubt. No arguement. But to suggest it was because it was an important game for rangers is just childish and does a great manager like Levein no good at all. S**t happens in games, deal with and overcome it. As i've said before no-one on here could ref a game, it must be so difficult but to suggest there is an agenda is just ludicrous. I could also go on about deciscions that have cost rangers but i accept that its a game of opinions. Unless we turn it into American football that takes four hours to complete these things will always happen.

I've said before that I agree that Levein's rant did become a bit embarrassing. I said so at the time, even though I was raging on the day. And yes, you're right, they were simply refereeing mistakes - nothing more. Although the linesman changing his mind so ridiculously for the disallowed goal from one reason to another was out of order.

To all the postees here....are mistakes not something we learn from? Are they not, when realised, something we make sure we don't do again? When a referee has a split second to make a "judgement" call I can understand mistakes being made due to line of sight etc....however to make the same mistake time and time again should at worst mean him dropping down grades and at best having the courage to hold his hands up and admit it.

As for no-one on here being able to be a referee, i totally disagree.

Yeah, I disagree with that too. I was a ref for a while, but gave up - it was nothing to do with me not being able to actually ref the game quite well, it was more to do with the abuse I had to take from 22 players and 100 fans. I got £20 for a match that I had to get to myself no matter where it was on cold freezing Saturday mornings, then get subjected to the abuse. I began to realise there was more I could be doing with my time on a Saturday morning - like watching Soccer AM!

I might still go back to it - but trust me, it is a very hard, lonely job. That's not to say that anybody on here couldn't be good refs though. I think anyone that's played football at a decent level should give it a go. That's why I did - just to see the game from a different perspective and then realise that I used to be the one giving the abuse! I now know why I used to get booked so often!
