Why was Brian McLean booked?

Postby johnarob » Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:50 pm

Watching the game yesterday I felt certain that McLean had "head-butted" Boruc at first view, in the replays I'm still convinced he led with his head...fairly similar to Brown last week I thought...McLean was booked, end of story.

Was he booked for feigning a head butt, raising hands, agrressive behaviour?

I don't think a red was merited, but this is the consistency of refereeing that has us all (well all tims) questioning so many decisions.

Craig, it was very minimal, but contact was made..be it head or hands it was hard to call...either way it means one ref is right and one is wrong

Are you really suprised at this decision, we all know that keepers receive more protection than others so I find it hard to understand why he gets a yellow and broWn gets a red. You said one ref is right and one is wrong, I think they are both wrong! That's the problem with refs, no consistentcy! Oh maybe I'm wrong on that as they seem consistently bad for us!

Brian, what i meant was that after the game last week and brown's sending off the press/tv/radio (with the possible exception of 2 on radio scotland) concurred with the decision. This was then backed up by Kenny Clark in his tabloid ranting...So if McDonald was right, then Winter was wrong....

If he led with his head then its a sending off. The rules are pretty clear. Violent conduct whether it connects or not is a sending off. Most people on this site need to learn the rules of the game

all i'll say dexter is if davis or mcculloch or someone done what brown did and got sent off you would defo be on here going crazy about it and calling ref this and that.it was a bad decision, not an anti-celtic decision just a woeful refereeing decision.

I promise you mate i wouldn't. I think you'll find the longer i'm on here i'm pretty consistent. I'll admit Lafferty should have beeen yellow carded and bougherra could have been sent off for persistent fouling but when was the last time you saw somone sent off for persistent fouling, its a brave refereee that does that. If anyone attempts to lead with the head its a red card. The rules are clear.

It's not us site members that need to learn the tules...its's the refs themselves.....if similar incidents are happening in deifferent games then the same punishment needs to consistent, it's not and thats why there is so much anger among fans

Pity (I know more Green,White & Yellow paranoia)You are correct Fuc&ing aprons are always picking on Celtic players (no matter their religion) Just take Allan Thompson`s total air kick at Snatcho Novo, Sent off for a tackle from behind & Allan Thompson`s fresh air Head butt of that homo peter luvenpant`s who grabbed his face then his anus, sent off both times by refs during O.f derbies at Paradise.

I could go on all night but cant be bothered, fuc& that for a game of soldiers I remember john gregg breaking Bobby Lennoxtowns leg at an O.f. derbie (and he was clean through on goal in the penalty area & the ref gave off-side against Bobby Lennoxtown), tiny warton was a cun7 back then.

Absolutely no difference today as back then, just book the Innocent Celtic player & let the game continue & hope that their lodge brothers can sneak a winner.

Ps. John Gregg said later he said sorry to Bobby for breaking his leg, but he never understood why the ref never even consulted his linesmen & gave the penalty as he said " saw that wee bugger Lennox out of the corner of my eye & thought I gonny stop him for scoring but by the time I caught up with him, he was off so I just took a flying lunge at him & never meant to break his leg, just put him off a bit"

Yea very nice of you Greggy but just you go back to playing a bottle as a flute, for all the present girls at the lodge get together.
