Best Bet Scottish Roundup 25/10/14

After a decent start (Ronny scoring anytime) with Best Bet roundup on Wednesday we’re back to domestic matters at the weekend, there a few games which catch the eye and my thoughts are as follows.

Aberdeen v Motherwell

A return to Friday night football has the Dons versus Stuart McCall’s struggling Motherwell side. The home side look like bankers but the price of 2/5 provides little incentive here, instead there might be better value looking at anytime scorers again with Rooney and Goodwillie both listed as slightly better than evens to net anytime. The Motherwell defence are shipping goals left, right and center so it seems inevitable that the Dons will score and with both these guys on a decent run of form that price looks good to me.

Partick v St Johnstone

St Johnstone are another side who are struggling to find their feet this season, with May gone and McLean sidelined the Perthshire side are toiling to pose much a threat going forward. Their normally reliable defence is also looking less than convincing so I strongly fancy the home side here. Thistle are better than their league position suggests and would have been disappointed not to take anything from a close encounter with United at Tannadice last week. I expect the home side to come out all guns blazing and prove too strong for the visiting Perth side. Mcbookie have Thistle listed at a superb 8/5 price and would definately be one to consider adding to the accas.

Dundee v Hamilton

Hamilton show no sign of their bubble bursting after a hugely impressive skelping of Aberdeen at home last week, they travel to Dundee and will be confident of continuing their good run. McBookie this time offering 31/20 on the away side which considering it’s 1st v 7th seems like a very good chance.

Celtic v Kilmarnock

Again a home victory is what’s expected here but given last nights far from convincing outing in the Europa league more pressure will be heaped on this Celtic side, that said Guddeti will be available again and he has show to be more than capable of netting at SPFL level. Kilmarnock have impressed this season though and will be no pushovers on Sunday, their goals have come from a varied number of players this season and could prove stern opposition to Celtic. The away side are priced at a stunning 12/1 to repeat the feat Hamilton achieved a couple of weeks ago and while this might be a stretch too far Killie +2 at 5/4 seems a reasonable shout.

Hibernian v Hearts

The Edinburgh derby closes the action off on Sunday and it would a brave man to back anything other than a Hearts victory in a fixture where they have traditionally dominated. The Jambos are on fire at the moment and are piling in with the goals so they’ll be desperate to continue this against their stuttering Edinburgh rivals. Hearts are available at a stunning 6/5 with McBookie and if you think it’ll be comprehensive then you can have the Jambos -1 at 29/10.

Others

Elsewhere in the divisions you could consider Arbroath and Queens Park in the 2nd to continue their good run of form against Montrose and East Fife, in the first league leaders Forfar should be too string for middle of the table Stranraer.

Verdict

Lot’s of potentially very good prices this weekend but I can’t see past Hearts on Sunday at odds against for the win they will be my personal choice, as ever good luck and add you comments/picks below.

For the podcast charity bet, we are going for a treble of Partick Thistle, Hamilton and Hearts. I’m personally going for all three too. If I were to choose one out of the three selections, it would be Hearts.
