S8E19 Talbot Highland Fling

Two weeks in a row for a Talbot title, so you can guess which one of the Johns is on with Krys this week!

First up, for the second week running, it’s good news from the Scottish national team as they book a place in the B-Section of the UEFA Nations League, and give themselves a second chance at qualification for Euro 2020 should they need it. With the draw coming up on Sunday, we’re all expecting the usual horror draw of France, Germany, Scotland, Brazil, Real Madrid and Georgia.

On the domestic front, John had something of a mixed day on Saturday. Aberdeen were humped by Motherwell, but Talbot progressed to the fourth round and after a journey to Fraserburgh, the Arctic Circle and the Moon, a nice little home time to some local rivals was long overdue.

Elsewhere the league, Rangers are excited at the prospect of being able to go top of the league next week as all they have to do is score their now obligatory late goals against a Hearts team who haven’t scored since Noah was in their youth setup. St Mirren got their first win against them, and the wondergoal in that game leads us on nicely to talking about the Scottish Cafu joke that’s doing the rounds.

Coming up this week is match day five in the Europa League. Red Bull gives you wings but does it also give you a stitch up? Has a Rangers team ever beaten a Spanish side? We don’t know the answers but we heard it once so that’s good enough for us.

Oh, and of course it’s League Cup final weekend so with Celtic and Aberdeen playing for the first silverware of the season we discuss out hopes and dreams. Can it be a magnificent seven in a row for Celtic, or can Aberdeen win on penalties against Celtic like the Scottish Cup final of 1990?

Which takes us full circle to reminiscing about Scotland in major tournaments. It’s almost like we plan these things, but we can assure you we make this up as we go along.
