In the second of our special guests for the week as Good John is joined by Airdrie legend John Martin.
John talks through his 19 year spell with The Diamonds, from taking over as number one from Ernie McGarr to leaving the club in 1999, three years before the clubs unfortunate demise. He fondly recalls the 90’s where Airdrie reached two Scottish Cup Finals, four League Cup Semi Finals, won the B&Q Challenge Cup, had two years in the Premier League and played Sparta Prague in the 1992/93 European Cup Winners Cup. John also speaks highly of his teammates such as Alan Lawrence, Jimmy Sandison, Kenny Black and Owen Coyle.
After leaving Airdrie, John had short spells at Cowdenbeath, Preston Athletic and Bo’ness, plus a role in the movie “A Shot at Glory” alongside Robert Duvall, Ally McCoist and Michael Keaton amongst others. John also speaks of his pride at being a club ambassador for Airdrie and at being named in their hall of fame.
