S10E37 Guest Special: Lia Tweedie

It’s Edinburgh derby week in the SWPL as Hearts entertain Hibs on Sunday. In Part One of our guest specials leading up to the match, Good John is joined by Hearts centre forward Lia Tweedie, who joined them this season from their arch rivals.

Lia talks about the reasons for joining Hearts and the difficult start they’ve had to their first season in the top flight after last season’s promotion. Being a Hearts fan, she talks about the determination for the club to improve and establish themselves in the top flight. We go over Lia’s Scotland career at Under 17 and Under 19 level, the latter of which she scored three goals in consecutive games against Ukraine, Albania and Austria, and how she knew Erin Cuthbert was going to be a star in the game. Lia talks fondly about her time with Hibs, where they won seven Cup competitions since 2016 but have been runners up to Glasgow City in each of the last five seasons. Naturally, she is looking forward to coming up against her old team and describes what the derby means for the Women’s team.

We round off with the usual quick fire questions, including an interesting choice for the Scotland men’s Euro 2020 song.
