In the last of Good John’s guest specials for 2020, he is joined by Ali DeFoy, presenter & producer of the Go Radio Football Show and presenter of St Mirren TV’s matchday coverage.
Ali begins by talking about her role at Go Radio and working with big personalities in Paul Cooney, Rob MacLean, Si Ferry and Barry Ferguson, and how successful the show has been so far. We then delve into memory lane by going through Ali’s career to date, which has taken her from the Dance School of Scotland and River City, through Gems TV and Biz to Biz, to Central FM and Wave FM. Her main sports broadcasting roles before Go Radio include a month at Aston Villa, three years co-presenting The Open for C3I Group and being Head of Marketing and Communications for Carnoustie Golf Club, scene of Paul Lawrie’s famous Claret Jug victory in 1999.
In addition to her professional career, Ali is a big St Mirren fan and talks about her time following The Buddies from the Love Street days, through the League Cup 2013 win over Hearts, to the present day where she is lucky enough to be presenting the in-house matchday coverage for the club TV channel. We round off with the usual quick fire questions including a best Saints XI, and an interesting choice for desert on Christmas Day.
